Want to know more about Microsoft Tag? 

Basically Microsoft Tag is a barcode on steroids!  But the clever part is, you don't need a barcode reader to decipher the information held within it .... nor even a funky specialised computer!  All you need is a phone handset which is supported by Microsoft and access to the internet via a data plan/allowance.

Basically with a small piece of software you download from Microsoft on your phone (go to gettag.mobi on your handset) you can point your mobile phone camera at a "tag" and it will analyse the tag and do whatever is programmed to happen when the tag is scanned - this can range from opening a website through to downloading a business card (in the vCard format), display free text, or even listen to a "dialer" advertisment on a phone number you specify.

The other nice factor is that you, the business owner, can keep track of who is accessing what tags via the online reporting system.  The reports are incredibly in depth and hugely useful.

At the moment all of the above is free of charge however it stands to reason that at some point when the technology comes out of beta, this may start to be a charged service (particularly the creation of tags and the reporting side of things I suspect).
