This presentation was delivered at a Joomla User Group Suffolk meeting in Ipswich. We all know how important it is to ensure that Joomla! url's are search engine friendly, which not only affects your search engine optimisation but also makes them "human eye" friendly. This presentation runs through a few key points to bear in mind before turning on SEF url's, and introduces a couple of components (note that this is quite old, so some things have changed since it was presented!)

The number of people I see posting on forums asking for support on components who are running versions of Joomla! sometimes 4 or more versions out of date is really quite alarming - when I point out to them the error of their ways, often the first question is "Well how do I upgrade to the latest version?". Hopefully this article should help clarify the process involved with installing the latest patches for Joomla! and help you stay up to date!
